December 16, 2019 Cold one

Hey yall, this was a fast but also hard week. We are using the bus system now and it's slow, every bus is about 20 mins late but it's whatever. We did exchanges with the Zone leaders and I was with Elder Brady. We worked in the Capital/ YSA area, and found a couple people to teach and we did a video lesson as well. We also went to the food bank for service as well.  Wednesday we taught Charles and also had to push his baptism date a week to make sure he keeps commitments. We had a member dinner with him as well, then went out with the Elders Quorum President for the rest of the night. I had my last zone Conference and it was actually pretty good. We talked about actually Doctrine instead of rules the whole time, we learned about the roots of the book if Mormon line up with the Bible in Jeremiah and tons of other places too. Crazy man. I gave my departing testimony and I got everyone to laugh but it was also Spiritual as well. I compared my mission to a Ford car with a NOS bottle (makes your car super fast) and we learn over time how to control how much boost we need to work effectively.  We taught Charles again and went over the law of Chastity, it actually went pretty well. He also decided to start a 1000 piece puzzle so his apartment was a mess. He also came to church which was good. That's about it for this week. Love yall.

December 9, 2019 Fired up

Hey yall so this week was pretty good, got some good work done out here in Lincoln and yeah. Started this week with service at a food bank and that was pretty fun, we basically went through baskets to make sure everyone had what they needed, then we hit the pavement, taught Charles the rest if the Plan of Salvation at a members home and it went pretty good. We set him on date for December 21st!  We were able to help a set if YSA missionaries give a blessing which was pretty cool, and worked the ghetto areas a lot and seen miracles from it!  We also taught a part member family which was pretty cool, Friday was a pretty tough day, we got out and tried tons of people but didnt get very far. We taught Charles again with one of his friends and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and reminded him about his commitments especially with baptism and his friend was super receptive and the lesson was cash. Saturday we had the ward Christmas party and we ran the hot chocolate bar and shared a little message about Light the World. Church was good, we had a family and the part member family came as well, it was sweet. The new family just came off an invite which was sweet, we had a good elders Quorum lesson and yeah. The rest of the day working the ghetto. Welp im out if time so love yall!

December 2, 2019 Short Pass

Hey yall this is gonna be a short one since it's only been a few days. We have been teaching a new guy named Charles who is pretty sweet, we have taught him about the Restoration and part of the plan of salvation and he came to freaking church! It was sick, the members fellowshipped him and life was good. We also had another guy we are teaching come as well. Slowly we are getting fed but it's still hard to fit others schedules but it's getting better that all that matters. We found a couple lost sheep while finding and watch a couple go at it, yelling and screaming at each other. Geez Louise. I love that the Gospel, especially the Book of Moron can answer any question like how can I strengthen my family! (3 Nephi 13&14) so yeah that's about it fam. Have a great one!

November 28, 2019 Thanksgiving MaMoney!

Hey yall so this past week and few days has been so crazy!  Our Pday got moved since Thanksgiving duh, this last week in Sutherland was good, we got to teach a handful of lessons to members with a youth team up which was super fun.  We had exchanges with the McCook elders and I was with Elder Brandon, we ended up helping a part member family process meat from a couple deers harvested from this hunting season!  It was sweet and soon to be delicious!  We cut up the hind quarters and got it all cleaned up and got most the skin off and fur, then grinded it up with a little bit of hamburger to take away the game taste if ya know what I mean.  It was good, we talked about sending him on a mission lol.  After exchanges we hit up the outer areas of the branch, tired a handful of members and people with intrest, got to work in some cool towns in the middle of no where, saw a sweet dog with some stylish fur, a squirrel and of course farm equipment!  We also had a branch planning meeting, I felt like a little kid at an adult party or meeting, but hey we got dinner out of it so it was good.  We met with Chris and that was good.  Sunday was also good, Elder Newell had to give a 20 min talk lol.  our day was pretty good, met up with Austin again and followed up but the trucking life is soooo busy so hopefully he finds time to read the Book of Mormon and if he wants to continue to learn.  Sunday night about 12:30 AM we got a call from the Lincoln Zone leaders asking where we were...  I questioned their question.  Turns out im being transferred:(  I was pretty pissed so I started packing at 1AM when we got off the phone and yeah.  Turns out I was suppose to get a call from someone else to tell me I was leaving, and had to leave Sunday night to avoid a blizzard.  The next day I packed up and it snowed about 6 inches throughout the day.  We still got around so I could see members before I left, shoveled a few driveways and yeah.  We had dinner with the Elders Quorum president one last time and we played a couple games and with the dog then headed home.  We found out I-80 was closed from Kearney to York which is 86 mile stretch, therefore I cannot make it to transfer point, which was about 4 hours east of Ogallala.  I tried to talk some sense into our APs but ya know they didnt listen.  4:30AM rolls around and we start our trek eastward, in my equinox yay...  We drove on a sheet of ice about the whole time, met up with the McCook elders in case we got stuck and yeah, Elder Brandon is the worst utah driver, freaking tailgating and cutting me off, genius.  Still love them though.  We made it on time actually and the APs were about 2.5 hours late.  Got canes for lunch, then off to Lincoln!  My new area in the Northern part of the city with some boonies as well.  I got a 2019 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid as my car so its pretty hype.  Elder William's is my new comp, came out 1 transfer after me so you got 2 grandpa missionaries out here killing it!  Im pumped to see what we can do, so I hope yall have a great thanksgiving and dont get too stuffed!

Love yall

November 18, 2019 Service Day

Hey yall so this weekly will be pretty simple.  This whole week we did finding and a little teaching.  We did exchanges with the ZLs and I'll be honest, it was boring.  A lot of our teaching appointments cancelled this week so we ended up going to youth activities to build up the trust there and do missionary work with them, which is like 7 of them.  We played 9 square which is a bigger version of 4 square but mixed with volleyball so it was sweet.  We also had interviews this week along with District Council, I wanted to spice things up a bit so I did a training on the New England Patriots and how you need to be committed to be a good football player then flipped it to being a missionary.  It went pretty well and I made a cover photo of my district I will send in the pics.  Saturday our branch had a service project of cutting wood and splitting it for members who had wood burning stoves.  We started off driving to North Platte with our EQ president, his 4 year old son and Tyson the dog who is like 8 months old.  It was a party, our Branch president a good chunk of land with a ton of trees so we went to town.  We loaded a truck bed and an 8 by 16 trailer along with an 8 by 10 trailer full of wood, then tried to tow it around using chevy trucks (it was a struggle) and delivered it.  It was a good time, I ran a splitter most the time with some of the young men.  I got to help teach one of them to tow a trailer and oh man that was scary, I can only imagine what my dad went through teaching me lol.  Service is one of my favorite ways to invite the Spirit more into my life and with Light the World coming up I invite you to find ways to serve others as Christ did.

Love you most bye, Elder Phelon

November 11, 2019 Rebuilding

Hey yall this week was pretty slow due to weather and literally trying everyone in our small town. Experimenting new ways to find is fun but also really slow. We started teaching a guy named Glen who randomly came to church last week, we taught him the Restoration and committed him to read and pray. It will be exciting to see if he really takes this serious and how it will change his life. I love watching the Gospel change people's life it's pretty great. We are getting our branch on board for missionary work, it's been a long process but things are looking pretty good. This upcoming week we got a lot of teaching appointments with members so that should be good. We got a inch of snow this morning, not enough to drift that enough to have fun, except when your in a Chevy lol. Hope yall have a great week.

November 4, 2019 What time is it?

So winter is upon us, with a dusting if snow this morning and soon to be a few inches if the weather app is correct lol. This week flew by pretty fast.

Pday we spent in North Platte, nothing too exciting, went to Walmart and drove around to different stores. Tuesday was district council, it went pretty good we talked about preach my Gospel chapter 9 which is about finding. In order to teach we have to be able to find and we have a lot of different finding tools but for some reason we dint use all of them so it's nice to get a reminder also like how we are always reminded to repent. Funny how that works right? The rest if the day we taught a dude named Randy and his wife the Restoration which went pretty good then tried a couple people we found last week for the rest if the night. Wednesday we had a weird day, we followed up with a couple return appointments but they fell though. We had a branch correlation meeting in Sutherland and right as we showed up to Sutherland it was switched to Ogallala last min. Gosh dang it so we flipped back around. Thank goodness we got an awesome Elders quorum president to help us with all the missionary work.  Thursday we went at it, trying to contact people on our area book and it has been good for us.  We contacted a few people but most people weren't home.  Friday was awesome we did service for a part member family, we just prepped there yard for winter and cleaned up.  That took us most of our day which was fun.  We came home in the afternoon and got all of our studies done and did some more finding.  Saturday was the best we had an elders quorum activity called bullets and burritos, it was so awesome, we had a couple clay pigon launchers, and I was over one for a bit since some idiot ruined shotgun shooting back in the day.  Afterwards we helped build a patio roof for a member and that was a pretty uplifting event, we had a few members come and it was super fun.  Afterwards we got to help our EQ with his an old international tractor and it was a blast, definitely made my day.  Sunday was busy, we had branch council and church then meetings after church.  We tried a couple referrals in Hersey then went back to Ogallala and studied then tried a couple people, taught the resto to a dude with a sick old Ford F250 custom.  Later we taught another dude about the Book of Mormon and it was a goodnight.  Welp im off to Omaha!  Love yall

October 21, 2019 Bad Boys

yeah thats right, according to our leadership Elder Newell and I have been bad boys.  So they sent a traveling set of assistants to us.  yup drove freaking 6 hours to babysit us.  But thats not me we freaking blew those silly gooses away.  But before that we did exchanges with the McCook elders and that went really good.  I was with Elder Ellis and we went ham.  It was good.  Right after that exchange we went with the Aps and yeah blew their socks off.  We went ham and it was a good time.  I was with Elder Lindeman and I was around him when he was a new missionary, he also served in Sutherland so we contacted a lot of people he use to teach.  It was a good time.  They started pranking us in the middle of the night, so I got em good, I pulled the plug on the air mattresses... They didn't find that very funny but oh well.  The rest of the week was pretty normal, finding and finding and yeah.  We taught Chris the Word of Wisdom this past weekend and I used my secret weapon Ryan.  We taught the doctrine in Doctrine & Covenants section 89 and its pretty easy to understand.   then we had Ryan call in via video call and right as he answered the phone the Spirit filled the room and it was amazing, his testimony was so strong and powerful holy cow I was blown away!  Sunday was good I gave a talk on technology and missionary work, threw some shade on my trash phone and yeah it was a good time, got some people to laugh.  Thats it for today folks.  Shout out to Elder Sorenson I mean Brother Sorenson, ya did it bud!  He completed his mission!  So proud.

October 14, 2019 Painting the Corners

Hey yall so this past week was transfers!  I stayed in Sutherland and my new Comp E. Newell, things are so sweet!  So E. Billy got shipped off and I had to drive to Grand Island which is 3-4 hours east, drop off E. Billy and pick up E. Newell, then drive to McCook, which is the bottom of the stake, and do a baptism interview, we didn't get the paper work done until late that night so we did splits and stayed the night.  The next morning we drove back to Ogalalla and got Newell unpacked, it started to snow a little bit and it was 10 degrees.  we knocked doors in the freezing cold for about an hour then got the car and tried more people for 2 more hours.  We had a dinner/teaching appointment with a convert and that went well.  We headed off to Valentine for another baptism interview.  The interview was actually in Winner South Dakota so we left the stake.  The interview was good, we did splits again to use our time better.  We had a good time, we drove back to our area and the week was pretty much done.  We spent no time in our area which sucked but the time we did it was pretty sweet.  so we litterally hit every border of the zone this past week, drove a total of 13ish hours and over 800 miles.  The work of the Lord must go on!  Rip our cars miles but oh well!  Im pumped for this transfer, we are working on finding joy in the work, right now we have a comp goal on how to become more like Dwayne the Rock Johnson, we are rating our relationship status off of the movies he was in, right now we are at the game plan, good movie not his best but the good ones are fast and furious which is our goal.  A prophet once said if your not having fun as a missionary your doing something wrong, therefore you need to have fun while working and being obedient, the Gospel isnt here to constrain us from having fun but to point us to the REAL fun!  Well I hope yall have a wonderful week!

October 7, 2019 I hit what?

Hey yall this is gonna be a highlight reel.

So we had Zone Conf. it was really good, about gathering of Israel and our Patriarchal Blessing and how to better understand them!  We did a total of 12 hours of driving back and forth to our areas.  We also did exchanges with McCook, I was with E. Brandon a Elder I came out with, we killed it and I also ran over a cat.  little kitty thought it could cross the road and beat me but it was in my blind spot so yeah it spent a couple lifes.  I also ran over another bird that I thought was gonna move... guess not... the bird just went under the car and got knocked over by the wind.  The rest of the week was cold weather and misty skys, we were able to set a ton of return appointments and have a good time.  General Conf. was pretty amazing, we are all children of God and never forget that!  Always follow Christ and set a good example to others!  This week is transfers, I honestly dont know whats gonna happen.  So I'll catch ya next time!

September 30, 2019 Sand hills and a .270

hey yall

This week was busy but that its all good lets get some highlights going.

Monday was mega pday, little boring cause we had to drive 6 hours but we got to play chair soccer and basketball.  Tuesday was our last district council, we talked about daily planning and accountability, everyone joined in the conversation thank goodness cause I ran out of material.   We did studys and finding for the rest of the day and found a sweet guy named JC!  hype, we are going back this next week to visit him.  We had dinner with some returning members and that was super fun to hear their stories about coming back to the fold!  Wednesday, I was humbled.  Our Chevy Equinox had a super hard time driving on a sandy road while trying to find a inactive member who lived by a lake, long story short, E. Billy is a strong little man, thank goodness we had a shovel and Chevys suck in the sand... Even with AWD, Ford is from the Lord (thanks Trent) lol  Because of this event we were super late to our appointments with a couple members but we got em all done.  The rest of the night we tired referrals from our branch President and knocked around them and found a couple intrested people.  Thursday, we finished up the list and contacted more people from the past and got to sit down with a couple people!  We had dinner and a lesson at Dairy Queen with a newer member, did a faith flip (flip to a random page of Book of Mormon) and it answered her questions on what she needs to do better on!  Church is true book is blue.  Friday we had surprise exchanges with the zone leaders. yay. I went with E. Holden, it was fun over the weekend we built a fence for a member, did a ton of finding and taught a young crazy family.  Saturday was rough, we had 2 appointments fall through and yeah it sucked.  we knocked doors for like 2 hours straight in the fog/rain mix and yeah it was rough.  But we had a good dinner with some members and then one appointment actually happened!  It was with Chris a returning member!  We drove up to his ranch house and taught the plan of salvation, he set a goal to someday make it to the SLC temple, man did it make me feel grateful that we have so many Temples close by in Utah.  Dont take em for granite!  The closest temple to us in like 4 hours away.  He shot his .270 for us and it made our day better!  Sunday Chris came and we had a good meeting, about the new youth program!  I wish I was a youth now!  well thats it for today, Im off to omaha (5 hour drive each way) yay....

Love yall, Elder Phelon

September 23, 2019 Equinox:2 birds:0

hey yall so this week was pretty sweet, it all started in Valentine NE.  Its at the top of the state and a super sweet area.  We had exchanges with those Elders, I was with E. Garvin, super cool kid.  We did a TON of finding, bashed 2 people including a pastor, it was a party.  also won both bashes haha, we were able to witness a ton of miracles as well!  One was finding a part member family whos address was incorrect in the books!  We also found a ton of people who were interested, over all we found 5 new people to teach between the 4 of us.  Valentine is a very beautiful area, sorta has a "mountain" it was just a very tall hill with a ton of wind.  We saw the largest waterfall in the state of Nebraska, and played frisbee golf (all on PDay)  We held District council over a zoom call #blessing of tech.  we drove back to our area which included driving through 2 rivers and a ton of miles, to find ourselves back on the road headed to McCook which is the bottom of the state.  I did a baptism interview and it was spiritual, a little 10yrd girl knew so much about the Gospel!  Her baptism will be held soon.  While driving between areas we have also been able to do some finding in the very out reaches of our area which is super fun to do!  While driving back to Sutherland from McCook, I saw a bunch of turkeys crossing the road.  It was either an aggressive driving or Turkey dinner.  All im gonna say is that turkey was not found but another miracle, it didnt damage the car!  Equinox:1 Birds:0  we did more finding in Ogallala and talked to a handful of people who we got return appointments!  Church was good, the members are sweet, we had a good lesson for 2nd hour and afterwards had dinner with some members who finally fed me the NE specail... Chili and cinnamon  rolls! it was really good and they gave us a couple 3 pounds of buffalo meat.  on our way home a bird thought it could pull a fast one but all we saw was a cloud of feathers come off the grill of our car.  Equinox:2 Birds:0 So time for the Spiritual side, we have been having a ton of people as why the Book of Mormon is necessary?  Great question?  Well it is the most perfect book on the Earth right now (intro to Book of Mormon) it was translated by a Prophet called of God, it answers questions of the soul, it clarifies teachings of the Bible, its another testament of Jesus Christ, myths are refuted by it, it reveals new concepts and information, it was only translated once and is the tool to help gather Israel!  Who wouldnt want to read this Book!  All you have to do is read it and let the Spirit of God do the rest so easy!  Sadly their are many who still refuse to allow this into there lifes:(  I hope and pray each of you will share your testimony of the Book of Mormon allow the blessings and miricles to touch others.  Im fired up right now to share the Gospel and I hope you are too!  Im off to Kearny to wreck some kids!

Love yall
